Recap of the 2014 Academy Awards with GIFs

Last night, Ellen broke Twitter for about 15 minutes straight. So, you know, that’s pretty much the entirety of the 86th Academy Awards. Just kidding. There’s much more than that.

This is Ellen DeGeneres’ second time hosting. I personally think she’s a good option for the Oscars because she keeps it clean (which ABC and the mini-van majority love), and she’s sometimes so goofy that you can’t help but laugh at her shenanigans.

Still, no host can ever host unscathed. Because people never just enjoy the show. There’s always something to complain about. “She’s not funny. She’s not even doing full jokes. She’s just doing weird things.” And you know what drives me nuts about this? People bitched about the exact opposite last year with Seth MacFarlane.

When Seth MacFarlane tried to do 20-minute joke segments, people were either mad because he was “offensive” (not really) or because his jokes were too long (not really). And then this year, people are mad because they thought Ellen didn’t do enough jokes? What do you want, people? Seriously. You don’t like musical numbers, you don’t like comedians, you don’t like bits about pizza (We’ll get to that). HAVE YOU NO ENJOYMENT OF THE SIMPLE THINGS?

Whatever. I liked it. Let’s look at some fun GIFs!

At one point, Ellen grabbed a ton of celebrities for a selfie, offering viewers the chance to make it the most retweeted photo of all time.

Ellen also joked about ordering  pizza. And then she actually had pizza delivered. With a real pizza guy. And Brad Pitt helped hand it out.

How much do you wish you were that slice of pizza?
