Spider-Man: Homecoming Is Quirky Teen Comedy Meets Superhero Movie

You have to appreciate a movie with a double entendre in its title. If you’ve seen Spider-Man: Homecoming, you know that the title partly references the film’s climax, in which Peter Parker attends his high school’s homecoming dance. But there’s also some cheekiness behind the name when you know that this Spider-Man movie was the first collaborative effort between Sony (which holds the rights to Marvel’s Spider-Man properties) and Marvel Studios. Because after Sony made a hot mess of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (and got into a shit ton of debt), they made a deal with Kevin Feige (the man behind Marvel Studios’ MCU) and brought Spidey into the fold for a few films. Need For Speed Is Exactly What You Think It Is

Tobey Marshall (Aaron Paul)’s father just passed away, and the bank has informed him that he’s going to lose his auto business, Marshall Motors. But Tobey is no ordinary mechanic and auto detailer. He’s one of the best racers in the country, according to Monarch (Michael Keaton), a web series host who also runs an underground race called De Leon. After Tobey’s rival, Dino Brewster (Dominic Cooper) kills Tobey’s friend in a street race, Tobey is wrongfully accused and thrown in prison, where he waits for the day he can get revenge on Dino at Monarch’s annual De Leon. RoboCop: A Mindless, Heartless, Action Remake

If you’re looking for a movie completely devoid of that thing that makes your heart feel things (I believe they call it “emoticons” or something like that), then RoboCop is for you. This remake of the 1987 sci-fi/action film is all about weapons, good cops vs. bad cops, explosions, and Iron Man costume concept stealing. In other words, it’s the perfect, non-sappy Valentine’s Day movie you can enjoy with your boyfriend, girlfriend, bone buddy, domestic partner, swinger couple, group of dude bros, mother, or purse full of cats!
